You sometimes have to change other words or phrases, such as those referring to time or place:

  • Parul said she had filed the complaints two days before. (Indirect Speech)
  • Parul said, "I filed the complaints two days ago." (Direct speech)
  • The students promised they would complete the assignment the following day. (Indirect Speech)
  • "We will complete the assignment tomorrow", promised the students.(Direct Speech)
  • Sheetal complained that she had been working there for half an hour. (Indirect Speech)
